Among the trips that my wife and I have taken, I think the first will always be my favorite. On our honeymoon, we went to Carra Belle RV Resort near Destin, FL.
After a few hours of driving, with a wrong turn here and there because I get lost just going to the bathroom, we pulled into what at first seemed like a very plain campground. It was late at night and we really couldn’t see the place but, when we woke up in the morning and looked out our window and saw the most beautiful view of the Gulf of Mexico, I knew we had chosen well. The gentleman that ran the store was as pleasant as could be and he has a very well stocked, though small, store that even includes a few movies to rent.
It was mid-December, yet the weather was extraordinary. I think it was somewhere in the mid to upper 60’s and the sun was shining the whole time. It got so warm in fact, that our son was even playing in the water when we walked across the road to the beach (a walk that takes all of 3 minutes). We made a sand castle, and generally spent every day on the beach and just enjoying the sun.
Some people think that taking a vacation in the winter is crazy. But I tell you, when you can find a little gem like Carra Belle and there are no crowds, life is good. It is definitely worth the effort to do your homework and plan ahead.
